Math
In math we continue to work on adding and subtracting, positional words, subatizing, and we just wrapped up our shape unit. The shape unit is always my favorite because we get to do so many fun/hands on activities! We made shapes pictures, shape pizzas, found shapes around the world using magazines, geoboard shapes, etc. Such a fun math unit! We got to learn about the shape attributes for 2D and 3D shapes and we compared them by playing "Pass the Bag". Scholars sit around the carpet passing a bag of shapes around the carpet and if the bag landed on them they had to take two shapes out and say one thing they had in common and one thing that was different. When you are out and about or even at home ask your scholar what shapes they see and what attributes they have! Next we are starting teen numbers. We are working on making a group of ten and seeing how many we have left over for the ones. These are the beginning stages of place value and can be very tricky and definitely not as fun as shapes ;)
